Details
Art in Tanzania has been operating since 1996. Our community placements attract about 250 participants annually. Our vision is to give students hands-on experience working in developing African communities. In addition to your studies, you will have an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience of African culture and life, as well as fantastic nature and wildlife.
Our community-based programs focus on empowering the local communities and helping individual people living in poverty.
You experience the daily life and culture in Tanzania while witnessing the growth of one of the fastest-growing African economies.
Students will participate in and develop the NGO's daily operations. At the same time, you get valuable experience running an NGO in developing Africa.
You assist in managing the volunteers' and interns' daily activities in multiple programs. You also produce weekly plans and reports, make budgets and accounts, develop ongoing community programs, and plan new approaches.
The internship's outcome is to learn to use and gain experience implementing education in developing countries with limited capacity and, most importantly, to learn work skills for running an NGO in Africa.
Academic-level team leaders supervise your daily work. We also monitor your work using a weekly plan and report system to ensure your success with your placement work.
Also, to better understand the opportunities in a fast-growing economy. Interns work in teams of international students and volunteers.
Work hours are 6-8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
The program is ongoing, so the start dates are adjustable. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests to empower our daily work with the communities.
Daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility work.
The start and end dates are flexible as all programs are ongoing, many since 1996.
You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable safaris and tours.
We commonly have 15-40 students from different parts of the world, from over 400 universities we cooperate with, and representing a variety of professions.
